  • At the Business Excellence Awards organized by The Times Group at ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata on 19th June the Times Group honoured the top achievers of Class X.

    On 30th April, Aarav Jhutani , a student of Class VIII was shortlisted and awarded the Gita Sinha Trophy by Mr. Supriyo Sinha for demonstrating outstanding life skills. Mr. Sinha, an Executive Director of the Peerless Group institutionalised this prize in the memory of his mother Late. Mrs. Gita Sinha.

    Aarav Kumar of Class X were declared amongst the Top 18 students for the Edugraph Under 18 competition from amongst 2500 students from 300 schools across West Bengal. The ceremony was held on 24th January at the South City School with Ms. Sudha Murthy as the Chief Guest.

    Six boys in two teams from class IX participated in the Kolkata International Quiz Festival organised by The Bhawanipur Education Society at the Heritage School on 11th January’24. Aritra Kumar Bhuniya, Niilesh Ghosh and Madhup Maity of class IX A secured the second position and were recognised with a trophy and certificates.

    Birla High School Mukundapur hosted their annual school Fest, ‘Kaleidoscope’ on 18th and 19th January, 2024. Students, including a few from class IX participated in 13 events and secured 2nd position in Kalayogachari, Turtling, Ani Tale, Musical Tapestry events. They also bagged the 3rd position in Table Tennis, JAM, Behind the Lens, Viswa Jhankar Dance and Gamers Scratch events. BHS was the first Runners Up and the host school handed over the trophy to us.

    The Kolkata Police had organized a 5 kilometre ‘Run ‘n’ Fly Half Marathon’ for school students. Naitik Agarwal and Pratham Manot from Class IX participated in the event and were felicitated with participation medals.

    Kanvv Dhandhania of Class XII and Aarav Kumar of Class X were declared amongst the Top 18 students for the Edugraph Under 18 competition from amongst 2500 students from 300 schools across West Bengal.     Student Achievement Arya Bhattacharya and Debarshi Bhattacharjee from Class X and Nilesh Ghosh from Class IX received a prize money of Rs 35,000 for being the First Runner Up in the Times Quiz Competition organised by the Times Group on 19th December at the Hyatt Regency.

    Garv Kejriwal (Class X) qualified for the National Skating Championship at New Delhi from 24th to 26th November. Garv Kejriwal also qualified for the semi-finals in the 1000 mt. race.

    Sarthak Saraogi, Yashvit Singh Rajput and Bhavishya Agarwal of Class IX qualified for the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Challenge 2023 among 800 schools. The students were awarded the Gold Finalist Award, Highest Potential Business Award and the Most Profitable Business Award at Invictus International School, Amritsar on 10th & 11th August.

    Arya Bhattacharya and Aarav Kumar of the Quiz Club, Inquisitive, won the Trophy and cash award of Rs 30,000/- in the Zee 24 Ghanta Quiz held at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, New Town on 27th June and 28th June. They brought home a trophy and plaque for the school and a host of vouchers & gifts for themselves.

    Akul Shah attended a Youth Camp conducted by the Goethe Institute in Embilipitya, Sri Lanka between 28th May and 2nd June.

    Shri Ram Debating Festival - Arya Bhattacharya and Kshrugal Bhattacharjee from Class X in the junior category and Md. Anas Ali and Ram Daftari both from Class XII in the senior category participated in the online preliminary round of Renegade on 9th April, which was followed by an offline preliminary elimination round at Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi on 18th April which advanced them to the semi-finals. The topic for the final round was "Artificial Intelligence is a threat to Humanity" and Ram Daftari made our school proud by winning the national debate.

    Speed Skating : The Roller Skating North 24 Pargana District Championship was held at Rajarhat Clock Tower on 26th March. Garv Kejriwal of class X has won 2 gold medals.

    Mun Workshop - On 16th March 2023, a workshop was conducted by five students from Jadavpur University on Model United Nations. The workshop was attended by nine students from class IX. The detailed rules and regulations were shared with our students and doubts cleared.

    Mayukh Banik, student of class 8 in the session 2022-23, has been declared the 1st Runner - up at the City Level (Junior category) Tata Building India School Essay Competition 2020-21. He has qualified for the next phase of the National Level Evaluation.

    Patachitra Art Workshop - An integral part of folk culture of Bengal and Orissa ‘Patachitra’ was the theme of a workshop organised by the Art and Craft Department of Birla High School. Many students of IX of the Art and Craft Department participated in this workshop. Artists Suman Patachitrakar and Rupsona Patachitrakar from Pingla Patachitra village of Medinipur taught the students the basic skills of drawing and colouring of this form of Art and also shared their insights and experiences and exchanged ideas to develop the skills of the students.

    National Science Talent Search Examination was held on 21st February where Debarshi Bhattacharjee of Class IX secured the 3rd position in West Bengal and his All India Ranking is 143. It was organised by NSTSE.

    Niilesh Ghosh, Madhup Maity and Md. Faaz from Birla High School were selected from the East Zone for the Final Zonal Round of the Macmillan Budding Scientist Award 2022-23, which was held in Bhubaneswar from 13 th -15 th February.

    South City International School’s Annual Business Conclave, City Corpus, was organised on 18th January. The event saw 14 schools participating in 7 events ranging from crisis management to stock market. With a marvellous performance in the conclave, the Birla High School delegation, led by Kannv Dhandhania and Vedansh Roongta,  won prizes in 4 out of the 7 events, and won the 2nd runner up best school award. The prizes in other events included-

    -   1st in Bizquiz, the Business Quiz Event

    -     2nd in Amex, the Stock Market Event

    -     2nd in BidBash, the T20 Auction Event

    -     2nd in Anticlus-Clave, the Crisis Management Event

    The Table Tennis team from the senior section participated in the CBSE Table Tennis tournament at Asian International School, Kolkata from 8th – 13th January, 2023. Soumil Mukherjee of Class XII is the proud recipient of the gold medal, trophy and certificate for securing the champion position in CBSE National level Table Tennis Tournament, 2022-23

    Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival – Students from class IX attended the festival organised by AKLF. The students were present for three sessions held in Oxford Bookstore on 14th and 15th January.The moderator was Ms. Oindrilla Dutt and the three authors were Mrs. Shalini Modi, Mrs. Shobha. T. Srinivasa and Mrs. Nita Bajoria.

    Business Quiz was organised by South City International where Aarav Kumar of 9A has secured the 1st position.

    Aarav Kumar of 9A has bagged the Individual 1st prize in Quizzinius Ultima.

    DPS Ruby Park had organised Senior General Quiz where Aarav Kumar, Nevan Nag, Rayan Ebrahim and Arya Bhattacharya of 9A have secured the 3rd position. The same team has won the 1st prize in Mystery Box Quiz. In Theme of the Year Quiz, where Aarav Kumar, Nevan Nag and Arya Bhattacharya of 9A have won 1st prize.

    Aarav Kumar and Arya Bhattacharya of 9A secured the 1st position in Kolkata Quiz Festival , organised by Heritage School, Kolkata.

    Aarav Kumar and Arya Bhattacharya of 9A bagged the 3rd prize in Pop Culture and Mela Quiz, organised by DPS Ruby Park.

    Namit Chaturvedi from Class IX received a Certificate of Appreciation for participating and reading books successfully in the Book Reading Competition 2022 organised by Wlaret.

    Aneesh Agarwal 6B, Sardashis Chatterjee7A, Ambhirin Chakraborty7A, Abhigyan Chaudhary 8B, Nilesh Ghosh 8A, bagged several accolades in respective quiz events held at schools like, Heritage school, Delhi Public school, Ruby Park, and South City International school.

    Roller Skating- CBSE Zonal (Far East Zone) It was a proud moment when the students of BHS participated in the East Zone Roller Skating competition and won medals in various categories. The students who won the silver medal qualified for the National Championship. - Kushad Chakraborty (XI) – won a silver medal in 1000m and a bronze medal in 500m.

    Table-Tennis – Soumil Mukherjee of Class XII did the school proud at the East Zone Cluster of the CBSE inter-school sports, by winning a Silver Medal. He will be going to Gurugram on 9th Jan.’23 for the Nationals.

    West Bengal School Debating Championship - Another feather to the debating team of Birla High School. Ram Daftari won the Best Speaker award in the competition which was held on 30th November at Rotary Sadan. He was also chosen by the Calcutta Debating Circle to ask a question to eminent debaters at an event at the Calcutta Club.

    Calcutta Heritage Collective Quiz was held on 23rd November at South City International School. Aarav Kumar, Arya Bhattacharyya from Class IX and Nilesh Ghosh from Class VIII were the participants from Birla High School. They secured the 1st position in this prestigious quiz amongst twenty top schools of the city.

    Reyansh Khandelwal of Std XI were awarded with Student of the Year Trophy, badge, certificate and a cash prize of Rs.2100/- This initiative has been started by the Alumni since last 2 years. The nominated students are selected on the basis of parameters like academics, leadership qualities, discipline, respect for the school property and overall personality.

    Angad Riat our school topper was felicitated by the honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal Ms. Mamta Banerjee. He received a bouquet, some sweets and a congratulatory letter from her office. Congratulations Angad from team BHS!


    The Friends’ FM Quiz – The first  episode of the Quiz was held on 12.12.2021. Adi Majumdar of Class VI and Aarav Kumar of Class VIII participated and won the first round defeating Ballygunge Shiksha Sadan.


    Heartiest congratulations to our students

    Debanjan Sen Foundation Quiz - Golden Gauntlet Sports Quiz was held on 30th June, 2021. The team comprising of Ram Daftari and Kannv Dhandhania of Class X, and Rohitswa Das of Class XI (Touch Down) stood 1st in the prelims in the General Sports category and were selected for the finals. The finals were held on 4th July, 2021 and the Touch Down Team stood first in the General Sports category.  They received a School Trophy and certificates. Another team comprising of Kannv Dhandhania of  and Siddhartha Gupta of Class X and Arya Sarkar of Class IX stood 2nd in the prelims for the cricket category.

    Lenovo SmarterEd Scholarship

    An Initiative by Hindustan Times, Aman Gupta of Class X was among one of the 100 winners from 60000 entries across India. The winner will be awarded the Lenovo tablet or Laptop and the winner’s name along with the School's name will be published in the Hindustan Times newspaper and on the Lenovo website. 


    School Alerts Write-Alert (Writing) Competition 2021

    The students participated in this writing competition, in the English category, Orion Mukhoty of Class VIII secured the 1st position while Abheek Sinha of Class VII secured the 3rd position in the Class VIII - X category. Sarbo Sarcar of Class XI was declared 1st in the category of Class XI - XII internationally and received a prize of Amazon vouchers worth Rs 750.


    IIHM YOUNG CHEF AND JUNIOR CHEF PRELIMINARY ROUND

    IIHM Junior chef and IIHM Young chef preliminary round took place online on 9th of June 2021. Students joined the Zoom meeting link provided by the organisers and prepared the food item that was instructed beforehand. The students prepared a snack/savoury item along with a accompaniment for the contest. The contest for the juniors started at 10.00am. The prelims for the young chef started at 2.00pm on 9th of June, 2021. Registrations started began a couple of days before the contest. A separate zoom meeting was organised for providing information related to the preliminary contest. 7 students of Birla High School took part in this contest.


    Devanshu Choudhary of Class XII Science A was selected for the prestigious Conference on Global Health and Leadership organised by Harvard College. 


    ‘SPARDHA 21-A Myriad of Ideas’, organised by Mahadevi Birla World Academy. Adrito Maiti, Pritesh Lahiri, Writam Dasgupta of Class VII won the first prize in the “Naturae Unio Scientia'' event where they were required to make a storyboard regarding carbon footprint on hard paper.


    Shri Ram College of Commerce had organised 'SRCC Business conclave event - Young Leaders Initiative' 2021 from 19 March - 4 April, 2021. Utkarsh Bagaria and Tushar Somani of Class XI participated and had bagged the second position


    Inter School Quiz was organised virtually by Durgapur NIT on 9.4.2021 for students from VIII-XI which was won by :

    · Ram Daftari, Class 10

    · Debarshi Bhattacharjee, Class 8

    · Arya Sarkar, Class 9


    The Friends’ FM Quiz Grand Finale Live on FaceBook - was organised on 11th April, 2021, where our boys stood 2nd making us proud.


    National Level Online Painting

    Purav Gupta Class X-C participated in the 'Master Stroke' National Level Online Painting Competition held on 15th February, 2021. He was awarded the Jury's Special Award.


    State Skating Championship

    Garv Kejriwal from Class VII won the State Skating Championship organised by RSAWB at Sports Authority of India. He bagged the following Medals :

    -Gold Medal in 5000m inline speed skating

    -Gold Medal in 3000m inline speed skating

    -Silver Medal in inline speed skating

    Nakshat Pandey of class XI has been selected for the prestigious ‘JBNSTS Junior Scholarship Award, 2020

      Digital Pasch Youth Camp 2021

    The Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata, has awarded a scholarship to    Riddhiman Pal and Aanay Tibrewal as the best German language students from the PASCH partner schools. The students will be taking part in the online camp which will commence from 3rd May – 14th May’ 21.

     

    ·        International Olympiad 2019 - 20

    Silver Zone Foundation declared the International Olympiad results for the Academic Year 2019 – 20. Spandan Das from Class XI made our school proud by bagging the Gold medal in Mathematics (Level 2). Ankit Agarwal too bagged the Gold medal for Science (Level 2) while Pushkar Pandey secured 3rd position in the International Olympiad of Science. Both, Spandan Das and Ankit Agarwal ranked 1st in the State and Zonal level.


    National Level Talent Search (NLTS) Examination 2020

    The National Level Talent Search Examination was conducted online by Junior Cambridge International on the 2nd of August, 2020. Arihant Saraogi of Class XII Com. C & Hum ranked 1st in the East zone, and has also declared the National Winner too. He will receive a cheque of Rs 15,000/- along with a certificate and trophy. Earlier he had also won the Zonal Round and received Rs 5000/-.


     India Merit Award 2020                    

    The following students won the National title of India Maths Genius award at the Countingwell - India Maths Day held on 22 December 2020:

    ·       Atharva Choudhary - Class X

    ·       Sarbo Sarcar - Class X

    ·       Abhigyan Choudhary - Class VI

    ·       Nikunj Bajoria - Class IX

    They were among the 41 winners from over 10,000 students participating from more than 33 Indian states and union territories. They won medals and certificates.

     


    BIRLA HIGH SCHOOL Board Achivers-2020

    Saevus Eco Achievers Quiz Kolkata City Edition 2020 :  

    Abhigyan Choudhary, student of class VI, secured the Winner position in the Saevus Eco Achievers Family Edition (Kolkata City Edition), Online Quiz, held on 5th December, 2020.  He has qualified for the National Final Round 

    Online Mathematics Competition Infinity Team 2020

    Spandan Das is the winner of the Individual Round. Our school team was among the top 50 schools and hence selected for the final round. They also received the Team of Zone Award.

    National Mathematics Day

    -Atharva Choudhary of XB stood 1st in Kolkata and in India in his time slot.

    -Abhigyan Choudhary of VIA stood 1st in Kolkata and 3rd in India in his time slot.

    -Debarshi Bhattacharjee of VIIA stood 1st in Kolkata and 13th in India in his time slot. 

    -Eshan Das of VIIIB came 3rd in Kolkata and 27th in India in his time slot.

    -Anant Sharma of XA stood 2nd in Kolkata in his time slot.

    -Deeptanshu Halder of XB stood 8th in Kolkata and 53rd in India in his time slot.
