Japan Visit

  • From 27th July to 3rd August 2024, Birla High School and Sushila Birla Girls’ School engaged themselves with an exchange programme with Ogawa High School (Japan). A group of eight students and two teachers from our partner school in Japan visited us to witness the Indian culture and other vital aspects of the community. In the week of the cultural exchange, the visiting students became a part of the family of our students as they spent most of the time blending with the Indian culture.

The guests were taken for cultural and historical visits in the city. It included some of Kolkata's most iconic landmarks: the Victoria Memorial, St. Paul's Cathedral, Prinsep Ghat, the Birla Planetarium, the Indian Museum, Science City, and Netaji Bhavan, among others. Each site provided a unique insight into the heart of our city and its heritage to the delegates. Our friends also visited the Official Residence of Consul General of Japan on the penultimate day of their trip.

In addition to these visits, the Japanese students and teachers also took various tours in the school and witnessed physical education, yoga, creative cooking, teaching-learning sessions and art classes. These activities offered a glimpse into our educational curriculum and teaching methods, allowing our Japanese friends to experience the diverse approaches in our schools.

This exchange programme has not only allowed the Japanese delegates to experience the beauty and diversity of Kolkata but has also provided us with an opportunity to learn from each other’s perspectives. This exchange programme stands as a testament to the power of international collaboration and cultural exchange .

Two Japanese Teachers Mr. Masato Suzuki, Vice Principal and Mr. Osamu Nishio, teacher of Social Studies from Tokyo Metropolitan Kokusai High School, Tokyo Japan visited our Kolkata from the 4 th - 7 th December 2016. They reciprocated the visit of Ms Bibra and Ms Nain to their school in October 2015 to study and explore the opportunities for a School Exchange Program.
