INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY AT BHS 2021
Yoga is the "Unification of Atma with Paramatma“ or Soul to Super soul.
Birla High School virtually celebrated the International Day of Yoga on 21st of June, 2021. By keeping the concept of physical distancing rather than social distancing in mind, the students of classes 6 -11 performed in this celebration. All the participants performed different asanas from their home and shared the captured video with us. We have prepared a collage video by using those shared videos. Vishesh Mehta of Class VIII-E delivered the inaugural speech and the closing speech was delivered by Aditya Basu of class IX - B. The live streaming of the programme started at 7:30 am sharp on the Birla High School Facebook page. The student spread the message among all the students that yoga helps to improve their immunity, physical ability and moreover remove anxiety & stress.
Class XI Orientation 2021
19th June, 2021, saw the beginning of yet another novel virtual journey for Class 11 at Birla High School. As our battle against Corona still continues, we had to organize yet another virtual connect for the Class XI Orientation programme this year. The programme started with our respected Principal, Ms. L. Saigal extending her warm welcome to everyone and introducing the members of the Management. She then introduced the concerned Class Teachers, Counsellors and Special Educators who would be the first point of contact for the students in the upcoming academic session.The Coordinator of the senior secondary section, Ms. S. Mukherjee then took over from the Principal to explain the regulations governing the functioning of the senior section.Overall, the orientation programme served as an important interface for the students, their parents and the school authorities to connect and plan for the upcoming academic session at Birla High School.
On Integrating Physical Activity in Online Classroom– This webinar was organised by Madhubun Books on 19th June, 2021. The topics were - Different Yogic Activities & Sitting Movement Activities in online classes. The Physical Education department teachers and Ms. Renuka Arora were the participants.
Student Mentorship Programme
Regular classes, homework, examinations do create stress for the students particularly in the online mode. To bring about a change in their regular routine and to do something innovative a team of 15 boys was made from class X who acted as Student Mentors. Quiz, debate, impromptu activities were conducted and issues like over use of chat boxes and keeping their cameras and microphones off during classes were also discussed. This interactive session has also helped the students to develop a personal rapport with the senior students of the school.
Vaccination Drive by Vidya Mandir Society
Vidya Mandir Society has organized a vaccination drive on the 12th of June 2021 for all its units which includes Birla High School, Birla High School-Mukundapur, Sushila Birla Girls' School, JDBI and few staff of Shikshayatan Foundation as well. This drive was held in the Birla High School’s premises at 1, Moira Street,Kolkata-17. The drive was organized by Techno India Dama. This vaccination drive was for the staff, teachers, their families and dependants. More than 300 jabs of Covisheild were administered. The programme had a smooth start following all Covid protocols. The motto of Vidya Mandir Society was to vaccinate as many people under its flagship as it could, thereby reaching out to not only its employees but also to their family members and their dependants.
BHS ANTAKSHARI-'A Musical Pathshala'
To bring in some fresh tune of hope amidst the boredom of the pandemic, Birla High School had organised an online antakshari 'A Musical Pathshala' for the teachers on the evening of 4th June, 2021. The antakshari was hosted by an alumnus, Mr. Rajat Baid, a well known personality in the circuit of antakshari in the city. Though all eight teams had put up a strong melodious fight, the first position was bagged by team 'E-Note' comprising Rohan Sengupta, Riya Khetan and Spandan Banerjee. The event was graced by the eminent dignitaries like Major General VN Chaturvedi, Ms. Mukta Nain, Ms. Farida Singh and Mrs. Loveleen Saigal.
