  • ART & CRAFT EXHIBITION ON EAST KOLKATA WETLANDS

    Birla High School organised an Art & Craft Exhibition on East Kolkata Wetlands and the same was attended by Ms. Dhruba Dasgupta,Dr. Subir Ghosh and Ms. Althea Phillips.

     


    CARRER COUNSELLING

    On 30 th July 2018 Birla High School had conducted a career counselling session for the students of in association with ONE STEP UP a leading career counselling company present across 15 states in India.Mr.Shiv Dewan the founder and Chief Executive Officer of ONE STEP UP had himself come to guide the students regarding their career. Mr.Dewan is an alumni of IIM Indore as well as Sri Ram College Of Commerce.

    The entire session was very informative.  All the students were happy and a little more clear with their career, everyone had a positive feedback about the session.

     


    NO HORN & ANTI-POLLUTION CAMPAIGN

    The school along with the Kolkata Traffic Police (KTP) had formally launched a ‘NO HORN & ANTI-POLLUTION CAMPAIGN’ on A.J.C Bose Road at Minto Park (between Hungerford Street and Loudon Street) on Thursday, 26/07/2018 between 11:00 am – 12:00 noon.

    MAGIC PIANO AND THE CHOPIN SHORTS

    Dinara Klinton, a highly acclaimed & awarded pianist from London visited Birla High School on 24th July 2018. The students were mesmerized by her performance. She also had an interactive session with the students, who asked pertinent questions to the pianist.

     


     

    16th INTER-HOUSE QUIZ 2018

    The 16th Inter-House Quiz was held in the Vidya Mandir Auditorium on 20th July, 2018. The Quiz was organized  for the middle school i.e. for classes 6,7,8  and the senior school i.e.  9,10.

    Kishalay Banerjee and Ishan Palit were the Quiz Masters for the day. It was an interesting Quiz. The students and teachers enjoyed it. The Quiz Masters are the ex-students of Birla High School.

    In the Middle School, Shivaji House got the first position with 165 points and in the Senior School Gandhi House bagged the first position with 190 points.

    The final winners adding the points of the Middle School and Senior School was Netaji House with 370 points.

     Aarush Pahari got the best Quizzer Award for the Middle School and Aaditya Chowdhury got the best Quizzer Award for Senior School.

     


    19th  L.N. BIRLA MEMORIAL DEBATE 2018

    The 19 th L.N. Birla Memorial Debate was held on 11 July 2018, at the Vidya Mandir Auditorium. Steady voices, logical argument, impeccable rhetoric and intense competition saturated the atmosphere at the Vidya Mandir auditorium, as the school debaters from across the city assembled for the final round. The event was graced by the Director of US Consulate Mr.Jamie Dragon. Among the esteemed members of the jury we had Mr. Sumit Dasgupta, Mr. Noomi Mehta, Miss Malabika Banerjee and Miss Hilda Peacock.

    The students battled with the only weapon at their disposal—words and debated for and against the motion of the house, “Democracy has failed in India”. The debate was chaired by DR. Sandeep Chatterjee, one of the founders of the Calcutta Debating Circle. Among the eight finalists schools were La Martiniere for Boys, The Heritage school, DPS Ruby Park, Birla High School, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy,St. Xaviers Collegiate School, Calcutta Boys School and Mahadevi Birla World Academy. The audience wsa extremely inspired by the level of the competition and quality of the debators. The ‘Best Team Award ‘ was bagged by the participants from the Mahadevi Birla World Academy , and the speaker from the same school was awarded the Best Speaker Award. The First Runner-up was from The Heritage School.

    Birla High School believes in empowering the youth. The debate has revealed that given a platform, the country is capable of producing confident and articulate young speakers who can argue critically, yet courteously on various issues.
