Address by Shri. S.K. Birla
A special programme was organised for the students of class XII in the VidyaMandir auditorium on 20th December, 2018. Shri S.K.Birla, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, took part in an invigorating interactive session with the students of ShriShikshayatan School, Sushila Birla Girl’s School and Birla High School.The programme was an inspiring event for the outgoing students who are the future citizens of India. The students raised some pertinent and thoughtful questions which were answered deftly by Mr. Birla.
Issues regarding current socio-political scenario of the country and the world alike were discussed and Mr. Birla, through his wide knowledge and expertise, expressed his views on these matters and urged the students to utilise the education provided to them as a means of bringing about betterment in the society. He addressed students who were doubtful regarding unconventional career choices and assured them that it is the proficiency in the job that matters and not the job itself. He explained his ideas intermingled with personal experiences to present his views in a lucid manner to the students.The interactive session was thoroughly enjoyed by the students and it was a great learning experience for them.
Inter House IT Competition
The finale of the inter house IT competition for classes VI to X was held on 20th December.
Classes VI to VIII were divided into six groups, each comprising three students. The topic given to them was ‘World Cuisines’ and the students needed to work on MS PowerPoint and were also provided with internet access. The winner was Netaji House.
Classes IX & X were expected to create a webpage using Flash, GIMP, etc. They were divided into 6 groups of two students each.
Their topic was ‘E-Waste drive in India’ and they required HTML, Java Script, CSS, Flash, GIMP, browser and Internet connections.
The winner was Tagore House.
The Best House in IT Competition was Gandhi House.
Annual Sports 2018
On 14th December 2018 Birla High School observed their Annual Sports meet at the Gitanjali Stadium. Col. Nevendra Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Combat and Special Forces graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Students from classes 6 to 12 participated with a lot of enthusiasm in March Past and various track events, winning important points for their houses. Apart from the athletic events students of classes 6, 7 and 8 performed two Drills showing wonderful skills and coordination. Tagore House emerged overall victorious after an eventful Sports day.
