Independence Day Celebration
On 15th August, 2019, at the Vidya Mandir Auditorium, Birla High School celebrated the 73rd Independence Day amidst eminent guests, teachers and students. Teachers of the junior section along with the student council members were also invited to the programme. The theme of this year's celebration was the 20th anniversary of the Kargil Victory or Operation Vijay. It started with the hoisting of the tricolour by Brig. V.N. Chaturvedi at the school playground. The event was followed by a cultural show involving instrumental music, elocution, skit, speech by a teacher and the School President and a special dance performance upholding the national fervour of patriotism. The show ended with Principal Ma'am's address to the august audience where she wished everyone a very Happy Independence Day.
Middle School Inter-House Debate Competition
The Middle School Inter-House Debate Competition, organized by the Middle school Debate Club was held at Vidya Mandir Auditorium on Friday,the 9th of August ,2019 .
The motion was **Competition is Necessary for Effective Learning.* There were three participants from each house - two speakers from classes 7 and 8, speaking For/ Against the motion and a Floor Speaker from Class 6. The session was chaired by Aritro Ganguly from class 10. Two teachers,Ms. Trisha Bhowmick and Mrs. Tanjeev Pandher, from the Junior school were invited to judge the competition.
After two hours of intense debating, Netaji House was adjudged the Best House. The Best Speaker was awarded to Md. Anas Ali (8D) and the award for the Best Floor Speaker went to Girish Tainani (6C). The judges appropriately summed up the various opinions that emerged out of the session. The event ended with the prize ceremony and vote of thanks.
