Career Counselling Programme  

Crucial programmes on Career Counselling were organized during this month for students of Classes X, XI and XII to apprise them of opportunities of pursuing various careers in the United States of America.

On 11^th August, representatives from 15 reputed North American Universities visited the school acquainting the students with the unique features of each institution. The entire programme was organized by KIC Univ Assist, an organization which collaborates with North American Universities, enabling them to successfully advance their global engagement. It was a rewarding session as not only the students but also th parents had an opportunity to interact personally with the representatives between 2 pm to 2. 45pm.

On 20^th and 21^st August 2015, a Career Counselling session was organized by the school for the students of Classes 11 and 12. This session was conducted by Mr. Shiv Dewan and Mr. Thomas of One Step Up Education Services. The careers that were mainly discussed were, Engineering, Architecture, Aviation, Biotechnology, Medicine, Economics, Law, Hotel Management, Psychology, Journalism, Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretary, B.Com, BBA, Teaching etc.

Science Exhibition  

A Science Exhibition was organized by the students of Classes VI to VIII on 20^th of August 2015 with tremendous zeal and excitement. Students prepared models explaining theories and conducted interesting experiments to the delight of the spectators. The three Labs – Physics, Biology and Mathematics were spilling with student enthusiasts. Models of hydraulic bridge, broom cum vacuum cleaner, electromagnetic train, solar boat, electrical loop game, bubbles with dry ice, smoke kings, respiratory system in humans, sprinkler system for irrigation and water purification model were some of the impressive exhibits. These were judged by senior teachers, Dr. A. Chakraborty, Mr. A. Maiti and Mr. M. Chakraborty.

Anti Addiction Drive 

An Anti-addiction Campaign by Birla High School Social welfare was held at the Vidya Mandir Auditorium. The programme was conducted by Mr Bobby Chakraborty, who urged the students to be healthy soldiers and sincerely fight against the bad habits of smoking, drinking alcohol and drug addiction. In this regard, he highlighted the importance of three priorities in the life, health, career and family welfare and quoted personal experiences and anecdotes from his life which had made him learn the hard way.

Art World  

“Creative Masters” – a National Level drawing contest organized by ICICI Bank was held in the school on 13^th August 2015. The students were given a choice of topics from “Our Nation”, “Family and Friends” and “Our Plant”. 15 paintings have been chosen from the entire group of participants by the ICICI people for further screening. All participants received certificates of participation.

International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics 

Debaditya Pramanik of Class XI was a part of the Indian delegation that had represented India in the 9^th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics held in Magelang in Central Java from 27^th July to 3^rd August and won a gold medal.
